The more regularly and the more deeply you meditate, the sooner you will find yourself acting always from a centre of peace.
J. Donald Walters

Scientific studies and human experiences have proved that meditation helps us feel calmer, decreases anxiety and encourages more inner peace and harmony. When a person transitions into a meditative state, their brain wave activity slows down. There is an alteration in alpha, theta and gamma brain waves which continues even after meditation finishes. Deep meditation produces an increase in alpha and theta oscillations, these brain wave states are linked to feelings of relaxation and harmony.
There are five brain wave states: Delta. Beta. Alpha. Theta. Gamma. Delta waves are the lowest frequency waves. They are more predominant in babies and during non-REM sleep. Beta waves occur when we are awake and busy. They are more noticeable when we are stressed. Alpha waves are more present when we are in a relaxed conscious state such as meditation. Theta brain waves are the primary brain wave during the earlier years of life, known to create a peaceful state of bliss and relaxation, which also encourage creativity. Gamma are the highest frequency waves, most present when we are highly focused and concentrating.
The power and value of a consistent meditation practice hold no bounds. After personally discovering and experiencing the benefits of meditation, I would say tapping into the different brain wave states is truly worth it.
