Meditation Eases Stress

Meditation is the ultimate mobile device, you can use it anywhere, anytime, unobtrusively.

Sharon Salzberg

Stress is harmful to our health and wellbeing. It can lead to disease and other health problems. Whether stress is coming from events, life experiences, or unresolved issues, it can manifest in our bodies. When the body senses too much stress, the adrenal glands release cortisol (known as the stress hormone) into our bloodstream. This causes an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. The body then activates the fight or flight response, preparing us for potential danger. Whilst this is sometimes needed, it is not an optimal state to be in on a consistent basis: Chronic stress causes wear and tear to body tissues, increasing our risk of developing age-related diseases such as cancer, diabetes and dementia. Stress affects our health, mood and sleep patterns. It is destructive to our sense of joy and happiness and makes us more prone to anxiety and depression.

When we meditate, we slow everything down and produce feelings of relaxation and harmony, when we consistently practice we can ultimately find a place of calm, stillness and essentially better health and wellbeing. Does any of this resonate? If so, please do get in touch for a free meditation discovery call.
